Boys participating in our MAG Seniors program will continue work on level specific skills and routines on Floor, High Bar, Vault, Rings, Parallel Bars and Pommel.
At PCYC, we aim to be flexible and supportive of the needs of individual gymnasts. We encourage other sports, as they help to develop fitness, spatial awareness and physical endurance. We do, however expect a reasonable level of commitment. Without this, skill development, personal improvement is unlikely and it is extremely difficult to achieve. From Level Three, boys must compete in order to grade. This incurs additional expenses, such as competition entry fees and uniform. Where possible, we try to keep these at a minimum. Gymnastics is not a sport you can drop for the winter – this is our most important time of year!!!
WAG Seniors Program
Our WAG Seniors program is for girls who have progressed through our Intermediate Program.
Girls participating in this program develop level specific skills and perform individual routines based on their own skill development, strengths and expression.
At this level, gymnasts must compete in order to grade. Our lesson and unit plans are based on the competition calendar.
At PCYC, we aim to be flexible and supportive of the needs of individual gymnasts. Our small class sizes enable us to foster individuality and freedom of expression. We encourage other sports, as they help to develop fitness, spatial awareness and physical endurance. We do, however expect a reasonable level of commitment (Gymnasts wishing to compete regularly and successfully train more than four hours a week). Gymnastics is very much a sport that requires constant work. Without this, you may find that it is difficult to maintain skill development. Without regular training, personal improvement is unlikely and it is extremely difficult to achieve in the competition arena. Gymnastics is not a sport you can drop for the winter – this is our most important time of year!!!
Competitions are an integral part of higher level gymnastics. Many gymnasts enjoy performing and competitions promote organisation and time management skills, growth in character, self confidence and focus. They do incur additional expenses, which can sometimes be substantial, but are usually no more competition entry fees and uniform. Where possible, we try to keep these at a minimum. What a child can gain from competing often far outweighs outlay for entry fees and uniform.
